Mr. Gary Lamar Childers, 62, of Locust Grove, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011. He was born March 5, 1948, in Atlanta, to the late Glenn and Virginia Childers. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed football, western movies, and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Childers, of Locust Grove; four daughters, Tonya Childers, Carrie Childers, Christy and Kenny Wade, of Locust Grove, Brenda Taylor, of Griffin; four sons, Andy Taylor, of Stockbridge, James and Sandy Taylor, Michael Whitlock, and Gary Childers, Jr., all of Locust Grove; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; four sisters, Teresa Gregory, Vanessa Vurgess, Doris Tessenair, Sylvia Jean Lynch, all of South Carolina; one brother, Freddy Childers, of Carrollton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Prather and Darlene Brockman, and one brother, Thomas Childers. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m., in the Chapel of Sherrell Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marty Simpson officiating. Interment was at at Camp Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
