The Road to Tara Museum, in Jonesboro, will host a book release party, to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the 1936 release of author Margaret Mitchell's book "Gone With the Wind."
The release party is for a book on the history of Margaret Mitchell and Gone With the Wind.
According to Megan Drew, director of marketing and communications for the Clayton County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the gathering will highlight the book "Margaret Mitchell's Gone With the Wind: A Bestseller's Odyssey from Atlanta to Hollywood," which was written by John Wiley, Jr. and Ellen F. Brown.
"We have known about the book for a while...and we anticipate its release," said Drew.
The event, which is a reception for the world premiere of the book, will be held at the Road to Tara Museum, on Feb. 15, from 6 p.m., to 8 p.m. The museum is located, at 104 N. Main Street, in Jonesboro.
Drew said the museum is a fitting location to host the reception, because the city of Jonesboro is the actual literary setting of the book.
According to Drew, the very first page of the book states "my home in Jonesboro."
"Windie's" (the nickname for Gone With the Wind fans) will enjoy wine and cheese, hear the authors speak about the book, and have the opportunity to receive an autographed copy of the book.
The book details the history of how Mitchell's novel became an international phenomenon.
"Various Mitchell biographies and compilations of her letters tell part of the story, but never has there been a comprehensive overview of this kind," a Clayton County Convention and Visitors Bureau statement said.
The release explains that the book follows the novel on its journey from a small apartment, in Atlanta, to the legacy it has left on present day literature.
"This [book] tells the story from a slightly different angle," said Drew.
Admission for the reception is $25, and reservations are required, according to Drew. Books will be available for purchase at the Road to Tara Gift Shop, and will cost $26.95 plus tax, she said.
