Basketball teams renew rivalries

From Staff Reports

Here is a look at some key high school basketball games Friday night in the Southern Crescent: Girls games start at 7 and boys at 8:30 unless noted:

Locust Grove at Eagle's Landing:

The Eagle's Landing boys come into the game 9-2 overall and 4-2 in Region 4-AAA. The record includes seven wins in a row. The Golden Eagles won the Chuck Miller Classic earlier this year. Locust Grove has lost four in a row and enters the game with a 6-8 overall record. The Locust Grove girls (3-11) broke an 11-game losing streak on Tuesday with a win over ELCA. The Eagle's Landing girls (3-6) will try and end a four-game losing streak.

Alcovy at Dutchtown

The Dutchtown girls (9-4), who went to the Final Four last year, appear to be getting back on track after losing three of five games to open the season. The Lady Bulldogs have now won seven of eight games heading into tonight's contest against visiting Alcovy. The Dutchtown boys (5-8) will try and keep things on track tonight with their fourth win in a row.

ELCA at Strong Rock 6:30 (g), 8:00 (B):

Strong Rock is 3-9 in its first season in GHSA. The Strong Rock girls team is coached by legendary coach A.C. McCullers. McCullers led Morrow to four state titles back in the 1980s and 90s.
