Clayton County Police have arrested three suspects who were allegedly involved in the shooting of two people, on a ramp to I-75, near Tara Boulevard, in Jonesboro.
According to Clayton County Police spokesman, Sgt. Otis Willis, Markel Cobb, 19, of Jonesboro; and Hampton residents Tyreke Ryan, 19 and Andre Caroll, 28, have been charged with aggravated assault, and terroristic acts.
The Thursday night arrests followed a shooting, earlier that morning, said Willis. The spokesman said he did not have information regarding the conditions of the victims, Friday.
According to Willis, the victims were traveling in a gray, 2002 Ford Mustang, Thursday morning, and had just pulled off from Tara Boulevard, and were entering I-75, when the occupants of a dark gray 1999 Acura Legend, pulled alongside them, and began shooting.
"No one is owning up to their part," said Willis. He added that police were investigating details regarding an alleged dispute between the victims and suspects, Friday.
"They [suspects] are being very evasive about it," he added.
Police located the suspects' vehicle, Thursday, near the shooting incident, on the ramp of the Forest Parkway exit, on I-75, he added.
According to Willis, the suspects fled the scene, on foot.
He confirmed, Friday, that one of the suspects was injured during the shooting incident. "Police found shell casings and blood inside the Acura," Willis said, on Thursday.
According to Willis, the suspects were in custody, at the Clayton County Jail, in Jonesboro, on Friday night.
All three defendants are represented by the office of Public Defender Christine Van Dross, who could not be reached for comment on Friday.
The suspects are scheduled to appear in Clayton County Superior Court for preliminary hearings, on Jan. 20, according to online court records.
