James Thomas “Tom” Bond James Thomas “Tom” Bond, age 89, of Jackson, died Thursday morning, Jan. 13, 2011 at Westbury Medical Care Home, where he had been a patient for the past eight days. He was born in Butts County March 9, 1921, son of the late Otha Jack Bond and Florence Fincher Bond. Tom was in the United States Navy during World War II. He had been an employee of the Central Georgia EMC, General Motors for 20 years and was a self-employed electrician. Tom was a good friend of the late Dr. Wright Hicks of Jackson and assisted him in many ways, going on house calls with him and had helped deliver babies. He was a member of the Jackson United Methodist Church. Tom enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved to shoot doves and always got his limit. He assisted the late Oscar Weaver, Jr., with his cows. Tom enjoyed being around people and always met with his group at the round table in the old Mason Jar Restaurant. Survivors include his wife, Renate Aretz Bond; children, Carol and C. L. (Bub) Ridgway, Hugh and Cindy Bond, Joyce and Judge Bill Fears; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Walter Clifford “Pete” Bond; sister, Gladys Bond Durough, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 15 at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Dr. Ed Hoard, Judge Bill Fears and Luke Weaver officiated, with interment in the Cedar Rock Cemetery.
