Clayton County Police cited a 14-year-old Riverdale boy, who was hit by a car while dashing across Pointe South Pkwy., in Riverdale, early Wednesday morning.
According to Clayton County Police Public Information Officer, Capt. Tina Daniel, the boy was cited for pedestrian fleeing into traffic.
"He was trying to catch a school bus," she said. She explained that the teen, whose name was not released, attempted to run across four lanes of traffic. The teen did not use the crosswalk, she added.
"Witnesses said that he [the teen] came out of nowhere," said Daniel.
He was hit by a small Saturn Sedan, in the second westbound lane, on Pointe South Pkwy, according to Daniel.
She added that the teenager was transported to Atlanta Medical Center, and treated for minor injuries, such as bruises and abrasions.
The driver, whose identity was not available, on Wednesday night, was not cited for any violations, Daniel said.
Witnesses did not observe the driver speeding, she said.
