Lovejoy vs Mundy's Mill:
The Lovejoy Wildcats put their No. 3-ranking in the Class AAAA Gasports.com coaches' poll on the line tonight when they travel to nearby Mundy's Mill for a Region 4-AAAA contest against one of their biggest rivals.
Lovejoy enters the game with a 17-2 overall record and a 12-0 mark in Region 4-AAAA competition.
t will be the second meeting of the year between the two teams. In the first game, Lovejoy rolled to a 79-57 victory as Jermaine Hough and
DeAngelo Anthony each scored 14 points for the Wildcats.
Lovejoy has won six games in a row. Mundy's Mill (10-8 overall and 4-7 in Region 4-AAAA) is trying to win for the second time in a row after beating Forest Park on Tuesday night.
The Mundy's Mill girls (11-4 overall and 8-3 in Region 4-AAAA) have won three out of their last four games, and will try and get back on track in Friday's game after falling to No. 6-ranked Forest Park in their last game.
Morrow at Forest Park:
The Forest Park (14-5 overall and 12-0 in Region 4-AAAA) girls enter the game ranked sixth in the Gasports.com Class AAAA poll, moving up four spots this week.
Forest Park has won seven games in a row. Tonight, they will try and keep control of the region when they host Morrow (5-9 overall and 2-8 in Region 4-AAAA).
The Morrow boys (8-10 overall and 4-8 in Region 4-AAAA) are on a three-game winning streak after losing seven straight at one stretch. Forest Park (7-11overall and 4-9 in Region 4-AAAA) seeks a way to put an end to its five-game losing streak.
Drew at Henry County:
The Henry County Warhawks (15-3 overall and 9-1 in Region 4-AAA) moved up one spot in the latest Gasports.com Class AAA poll, and are now ranked sixth heading into tonight's game at home against Drew. The Warhawks are on a six-game winning streak.
Henry County last lost in the finals of the Chuck Miller Classic when it fell to Eagle's Landing 76-75 in overtime rigjht before Christmas.
Drew has won four of its last five games. The Warhawks beat Drew 54-49 the first time they played.
The Drew girls have won two games in a row and enter the game looking for their second victory this season against the Ladyhawks. The Lady Titans beat Henry County 47-38 earlier this year.
Dutchtown at Union Grove
No state rankings to brag about, just the renewal of an old-fashioned rivarly tonight when the Bulldogs meet the Wolverines.
Still, the Dutchtown boys (9-9 overall and 7-1 in Region 3A-AAA) is playing some of its best basketball this season, winning seven of its last eight games. Union Grove (10-6 overall and 6-2) lost 68-60 in the last meeting. Tonight's game is for first place the subregion.
The Dutchtown girls (11-7 overall and 5-3 in Region 3A-AAAA) , a Final Four team last year, are on a two-game winning steak this season. They take on a Union Grove squad (8-7 overall and 3-5 in Region 4-AAA) trying to get back on track after losing to Woodland.
Eagle's Landing at Stockbridge
The Eagle's Landing Golden Eagles (13-3 overall and 6-3 in Region 4-AAA) and Stockbridge Tigers (10-6 overall and 8-3 Region 4-AAA) will renew their basketball rivalry tonight in a key Region 4-AAAA contest.
In the first meeting between the two teams, Eagle's Landing held off Stockbridge 70-64.
The Golden Eagles will play the rest of the season without 6-8 sophomore Desmond Ringer, who is out for the rest of the year with an injury.
Eagle's Landing has won two in a row including a 65-63 wsin against Union Grove in overtime.
Stockbridge has won four of its last five games, but lost to Spalding County 59-58 in its last game.
The Stockbridge girls (9-9 overall and 8-3 in Region 4-AAA) will try and keep their solid region record in tact tonight and get above the .500 mark overall. The Eagle's Landing girls (5-9 overall and 4-5 Region 4-AAA) will attempt to get above the .500 mark in league play.
