Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport continues to be recognized for its high volume of passengers, air cargo, landings and takeoffs.
Hartsfield-Jackson remains the busiest passenger airport in the world, for the 13th consecutive year, said Al Snedeker, spokesman for Hartsfield-Jackson.
For the fifth consecutive year Hartsfield-Jackson is also the world's busiest airport in terms of operations, such as landings and takeoffs, Snedeker said.
"We are pleased that Hartsfield-Jackson has grown both its passenger and air cargo numbers in 2010, and is recognized as the world's busiest passenger airport again," said Louis Miller, aviation general manager at Hartsfield-Jackson.
"We anticipate further growth in 2011 as we focus our energies on being the global leader in airport efficiency and customer service excellence."
According to a year-end report issued by the airport on Jan. 27, passenger numbers increased from 88 million in 2009, to 89.33 million in 2010, a 1.51-percent increase, said Snedeker.
