Henry County and McDonough firefighters worked in a combined effort to extinguish a blaze at a McDonough home located at 305 Birch Creek Circle. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Henry County and McDonough firefighters worked to put out a blaze at a McDonough home heavily engulfed in flames upon their arrival.
Crews responded to the house fire at 305 Birch Creek Circle, Wednesday, just before 9 p.m.
"Although faced with heavy smoke, high heat and low visibility, an offensive attack was made by Henry County and McDonough firefighters," authorities said in a news release.
The house suffered significant fire damage, and a small amount of the flames stretched into the second story of the home, continued the release.
Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to locate the origin of the fire. However, the cause of the blaze remains under investigation and "appears to be accidental in nature at this time," fire officials said.
The homeowner escaped the home safely, but was displaced due to the fire. No injuries were reported.
"[The] Henry County Fire Department would like to stress the importance of citizens practicing fire safety in their homes with their families," said Captain Sabrina Puckett in a written statement.
