A self-employed Henry County landscaper, and his wife, a Clayton County Schools secretary, were released from jail Wednesday following their arrest on drug charges.
Demetris Glover, 46, and his wife, Linda Jean Glover, 58, were charged with manufacturing marijuana in the backyard of their home, located at 1003 Gloria Grand Blvd., in McDonough.
Officials of the Flint Circuit Drug Task Force said they were alerted to the Glovers after receiving complaints of marijuana plants growing in the backyard of their McDonough home.
The drug task force specializes in drug suppression, and its unit consists of law enforcement officers from seven Henry County agencies. The seven agencies have combined resources and intelligence, and have the authority to across jurisdictional boundaries within Henry County.
"[The] defendant and co-defendant spouse cultivated approximately 100 plants in the backyard of their residence," according to their arrest warrants.
"The agents responded to the location on June 17, and discovered that there were approximately 100 marijuana plants growing in the backyard...," said Maj. Chad Rosborough, head of the drug task force. "At that time, they made contact with Linda Glover, who was in the house, however, the husband was not at home."
Task force agents seized the plants, which were confiscated as evidence, said Rosborough. Linda Glover was not arrested at that time, he added.
The agency leader said one of the reasons for the delay in her arrest was, task force agents wanted to make a thorough probe into the case. "After further investigation, she, along with her husband, was arrested by the Henry County Sheriff's Office on June 29."
The Glovers were released from jail Wednesday, on bonds of $5,050 each. They appeared in Henry County Magistrate Court, Thursday, before Magistrate Court Judge Robert Godwin. He reset their cases to July 26, at 2 p.m.
Demetris Glover is the owner of a landscaping company, and Linda Jean Glover's occupation is listed as a Clayton County Public Schools secretary, according to jail records.
