This year's Thursday Thunder is more than halfway completed, and the storylines are beginning to unfold in the summer racing series at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Parker Barnes (Outlaws division) and Mason Massey (Young Lions) hold the largest leads in the points standings for their respective race division. The two drivers each have a 40-point lead heading into this evening's races.

Barnes has been perfect this season, winning all five of this season's Outlaw races. Massey has won three times, and has finished in the top four times.

IT'S A TIE: The Masters Division is as close as it can get. Albany's Skip Nichols, Thursday Thunder's most successful driver, and Atlanta Motor Speedway president and general manager Ed Clark each have 476 points.

They share a one-point lead over Terry Mathis (475) in the closest division race. Nichols holds a 12-point lead over Clark in the Roadsters Division.

CLOSE AGAIN: A year ago, William Plemons III edged Luke Behnke to win the semi-pro title. It looks like it could come down to the final week again this season. With four races left in the season, Plemons holds a narrow three-point lead over Behnke.

Plemons hs won three races, Behnke one. Mike Weed has won once in the division.
