Eagle's Landing rising sophomore Bailey Roth continues to add to his impressive running resume this summer.
Last week, the distance runner won national championship in the 1,500 and 3,000-meters at the USA Youth Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Myrtle Beach, S.C. at Doug Shaw Stadium.
This was the third national championship for Roth. Earlier this summer, he won the national title in the 3,000 at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, N.C.
In Myrtle Beach, Roth opened the four-day meet with the top qualifying time in the 1,500 with a time of four minutes, 0.92 seconds among the 28 competitors. He followed that with a 3:59.68 in the championship race the following day.
Roth trimmed 14.41 seconds from his seed time in turning a time of 8:43.65 to win the 3,000 event.
This past spring, Roth finished sixth in the 1,600 at the Class AAA state meet and was fourth in the 3,200.
Later this summer, Roth will begin training for the upcoming cross country season. He missed the entire season last year because of illness after transferring to the McDonough school from Grady High in Atlanta.
