A Riverdale woman has been charged with stealing her dead sister's Social Security check, said police.
Nancy Gail McCullough, 55, faces charges of identity fraud and theft by deception. She has been released from the Clayton County Jail on $4,000 bond.
Police said McCullough cashed two U.S. Department of Treasury checks made out to her sister, Patricia McCullough, who died Nov. 28. McCullough used her sister's identification card to cash the two $755 checks, authorities said.
McCullough allegedly told police she cashed the first check to pay her sister's funeral expenses. She has denied cashing the second check, but police said the signatures on both checks match.
