Women will gather to connect and network, during an event that will celebrate their empowerment and success.

Kim McNair Productions will present a "First Ladies Charity Brunch," on Saturday, July 23, from 11 a.m., to 2 p.m.

The affair will be held at the grand hall of the Lovejoy Community Center, located at 11622 Hastings Bridge Road, in Hampton, according to Kim McNair, owner and CEO of the event-planning and-marketing firm.

"The event will honor outstanding women within our community," she said.

McNair said people can register until Thursday, July 21, by calling (678) 583-6709. The cost is $25, she said, and a portion of it will benefit The Decorum Group, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching etiquette, leadership and entrepreneurial skills to youths.

Nine women will receive the First Lady of the Year Award, McNair said. They will be honored in three categories: as community leaders, educators and entrepreneurs.

The recipients are: Marie-Antoinette Burrell, of Mobile Marketing Solutions in Stockbridge; Shannon Till, of State Farm in Stockbridge; Shana Rooks, of Shana M. Rooks & Associates, LLC, in Jonesboro; Diana Galloway, of Atlantic Southeast Airlines in Atlanta; Adia Winfrey, of Healing Young People thru Empowerment; Rebekah Holland Wright, councilwoman for the City of Lovejoy; Charly McCracken, of The Decorum Group, Inc., in Jonesboro; Rebecca McClain, of Rebecca McClain Enterprises in Stockbridge; and Jacqulyn Moore, of Destiny Living International Church in Stockbridge.

"Participants will meet top business women, educators and entrepreneurs and find out more things they are doing as ... leaders," said McNair.

She added that each woman will receive a glass trophy.

McNair explained that, for the event, a "first lady" is described as an outstanding, talented woman in business or education, who is deeply involved with the local community. This defines the women that will be honored at the event, she said.

Participants will also enjoy a hearty brunch, which will include grits, eggs, turkey, sausage, bacon and fried or baked chicken. Beverages will include Starbucks coffee, apple juice and grape juice. The juice will be provided by Sam's Club of McDonough, she said.

McNair said this event will be fun and empowering for all women. "When [women] get together, it is like the power of the minds," she added.
