Several streets in the City of Jonesboro will be closed most of the day, Thursday, to accommodate the throngs of people expected to attend the funeral of a Clayton County sheriff's deputy, who was killed in the line of duty last week.
Jonesboro Police announced that the streets will be closed from 9:30 a.m., to 4:30 p.m. City Court proceedings that were scheduled before the services were announced, will still be held on that day, according to officials. The streets will be closed to all vehicular traffic, and include: Arnold Place, Chestnut, Burnside, Cloud, Church, Mill and College streets. Deputy Rick Daly, 55, died Wednesday. He is the first Clayton countywide officer to die gunfire in the line of duty. His funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church Jonesboro, which is located on Church Street in downtown Jonesboro. –– Kathy JefcoatsMore like this story
