The Clayton State University Foundation (CSUF) is preparing for its Annual Town and Gown Golf Tournament. The event is aimed at raising scholarship funds for Clayton State University (CSU).
Reda Rowell, director of development for CSUF, said this year's tournament will be held on Monday, Sept. 19 at the Eagle's Landing Golf and Country Club in Stockbridge. Rowell said CSUF is a non-profit 501c3 organization that solely raises scholarship funds for Clayton State University (CSU). She added the foundation gives away nearly $100,000 in scholarships to students each year who attend CSU. The golf tournament, according to Rowell, is just one part of the many fund-raising events the foundation hosts for the university. "Our goal this year is to raise $30,000," said Rowell. "However, we usually on average raise about $20,000 from this [golf tournament] event." Last year approximately 80 players and sponsors participated in the event, she said. Rowell added the players include people from the community, friends of the university, and university staff. Registration for the tournament, Rowell said, will beginMonday, Sept. 19, at 8:30 a.m., with a "shotgun" start at 10 a.m. She added the fees for the players and sponsors for this year's golf tournament are the following: Players: •A team of four players will be $500. •Individual player will be $150, and will be placed with a team the day of the event. Sponsors •There are six levels for sponsors which include: •Event Sponsor-$5,000 •Co-Tournament Sponsor-$2,500 •Laker Sponsor-$1,000 •Player Gift Sponsor-$1,000 •Food Sponsor-$250 •Hole Sponsor-$150 Rowell said in addition, the foundation will also be accepting donations such as prizes to raffle off items during the event, as well as food and beverages.
