Ret. Lt. William M. “Bill” Wilson, 76, of Stockbridge, passed away on July 25, 2011. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Virginia S. Wilson, who passed Feb. 12, 2006, and sister, Sonja Trocciola, of Sharpsburg, Ga., who passed Feb. 20, 2005. He is survived by two daughters, Sandra D. Evans, of Stockbridge, Paula Wilson Williams, of Marietta, and one son, William W. (Lee) Wilson, of Stockbridge; brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby G. Wilson, of College Park; brother-in-law, Eddie Trocciola, of Sharpsburg, Ga.; sister, Ann Young, and brother-in-law, Larry M. Young, Sr., (Ex. Director of GALEFI) of Locust Grove; brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. C.W. (Wayne) Wilson, of East Point, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, friends and fellow Veterans of the U.S. Navy, and the East Point Police Department. Bill served the U.S.Navy from Oct. 20, 1952, through July 29, 1963. He joined the police department in East Point, on May 25, 1966, and remained there through Aug. 31, 1985. Bill was noted as one of the state’s finest firearms instructors and he continued his involvement in law enforcement training after his retirement. He was most recently involved as a member of the board of the Georgia Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors. It allowed him to continue in the fellowship and training of fellow officers and friends that he so dearly cared for. The family will receive friends TODAY ( July 26), from 5 p.m., to 8 p.m., at the Horis A. Ward Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home, 376 Fairview Road, on Wednesday, July 27, at 1 p.m. Pastor Tim Dowdy will officiate. Interment will be at the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
