Mrs. Betty Rape, 81 of McDonough, passed away July 29, 2011. Betty was born in Tavares, Fla., to the late William and Allease Stewart Trowell. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Arnold Rape, in 1982. Betty attended Georgia Baptist School of Nursing and retired as an registered nurse with the Carter & Johnson Family Practice. She was a member of the First Christian Church of McDonough, enjoyed cooking, gardening, and was known for her wonderful banana pudding. “B-Bye,” as she was known by her family, is survived by children, Randy (Jane) Rape, of McDonough, and Vonnie Henderson, of Hampton; grandchildren, Brian (Kathia) Rape, Eric Rape, Jason (Mary) Steele, Marcus Rape, Nikki (Travis) Devane, K.K. Rhodes; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Julia, Zachery and Gregory Steele, Curtis and Gage Devane, and Bella Rape; sisters, Billie Van Alstine and Margaret Ann Trowell, both of Thomasville. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Aug. 1, at 11 a.m., in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Pastor Paul Leslie will officiate. Interment will follow at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. Friends may visit the family Sunday from, 4 p.m., to 6 p.m., at the funeral home. Contributions are asked to be made to the Henry County Heritage Center, in memory of Betty.
