A Riverdale woman's brief standoff with Clayton County police and SWAT officers ended Friday without incident, said officials.
Clayton County Police Officer John Schneller said Friday afternoon that the woman was not initially charged, and police did not release her identity at that time. He said she was taken ambulance to be evaluated. The incident started about 10:45 a.m. when police got a 911 call from a resident at Chase Ridge Apartments near Ga. 85. Schneller said the female caller threatened to set her apartment on fire and hung up. Police responded to her address but she refused to let them in or answer her door, said Schneller. The SWAT team was called out and police cordoned off the complex. However, no units were evacuated. Schneller said the woman was incoherent in her responses to police. The standoff ended about three hours later when officers tossed a chemical agent into her home and she opened the door, he said. — Kathy JefcoatsMore like this story
