Funeral Home: her daughters will serve as pallbearers. R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home Barbara Ann Pope Neal Mrs. Barbara Ann Pope Neal, 70, of Adairsville, Ga., passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011 at her daughters residence in Summerville. She was born in DeKalb County, Ga., on March 9, 1941, and is the daughter of the late George Washington and Mary Agnes Hammock Pope. She had worked as a special-education parenting instructor for the City of Atlanta-Fulton County Government, in addition to raising her family as a homemaker. An avid reader, she was an advocate and volunteer for promoting literacy. She also enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Glenn Marty Neal. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Kurt Miller, of Adairsville, Marla and John Kirby, of Cartersville, and Cathy and Michael Stancil, of Summerville; two brothers, Idus Pope, of Greene County, and Ronald Pope, of Jackson; seven grandchildren, Christopher Kelly, Danny Duffey, Nicholas Miller, Thomas Duffey, Amanda Davis, Jacob Morris and David Johnson; several step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and a special companion, her Shih Tzu, Tiny Tim Timmy Neal. The family received friends Monday, Aug. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Barton Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held TODAY (Tuesday, Aug. 2), at 12 p.m., at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, in Forest Park, where her daughters will serve as pallbearers. R.
