Spurlock, William B. Jr.

Mr. William B. “Bill” Spurlock, Jr., 89, of Locust Grove, passed away June 1, 2011. Bill was born in Atlanta, to the late William B. Spurlock, Sr., and Evelyn Shelton Spurlock. He was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Oliver Spurlock, and a brother-in-law, Thomas Harper. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII as an aerial gunner on a B-29. He retired after 25 years with Sears and Roebuck, and was a wedding photographer for Herb O’Neal Photography. He then retired after 30 years as a Realtor at Jim Dorminy Realty. Bill was a charter member of Bible Baptist Church for 77 years, serving as Deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a man of faith who enjoyed time with his family, woodcraft, baseball and fishing. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Dollie Spurlock, of Locust Grove; children, Richard (Linda) Spurlock, of McDonough, Cindy (Ricky) Triplett, of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Kevin Spurlock, Natalie Farmer and Valerie Moore; great-grandchildren, Parker Spurlock, Aaron Farmer, Kate Moore and Caleb Moore; sister, Marie Harper, of Cumming. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 4, at 11a.m., from the Bible Baptist Church in Hampton. Pastor Brad Blanton, Pastor Ed Taylor and Pastor Norman Pyle will officiate. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Forest Park. Friends may visit the family, Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
