William Plemons III has often said he's found racing in the Semi-Pro Division at Thursday Thunder just like riding a bicycle.
One you learn how, you never forget.
That lesson helped Plemons capture the points title in Semi Pro Division of Thursday Thunder last year despite being away from the racing circuit for more than a decade.
Apparently there won't be in long absences in Plemons' racing future this time around.
The defending Semi-Pro points champion, who won three times last year, took the checkered flag Thursday night in the first week of action.
"It's great to get a win," he said. "Anytime you can get a win out here it's just a big accomplishment."
Plemons is quick to pass on the credit to those who help him each week get ready for the race.
"It's not just me," Plemons said. "There are so many people that deserve the credit. I am less than 20 percentage of the equation. I just drive the car.
Racing is a family hobby for the Plemons. His father William PIemons, Jr races in the Masters Division.
The elder Plemons led his race for a short time before get spun out and fall to the back of the pack.
Plemons III isn't sure if he can repeat as champion, but says he is looking forward to the next nine weeks of racing.
"I love it out here" he said. "This is grassroots racing, and this is what is is all about."
