No charges are expected to be filed in the death of a pedestrian killed early Tuesday morning while trying to cross Tara Boulevard in Jonesboro, said Clayton County police.
Police spokesman Eddie Soto said the release of the man's name was delayed while officers located the next of kin.
Soto said the 54-year-old white male was crossing Tara Boulevard from Flint River Road in Jonesboro about 5:22 a.m. when he was hit by a car. After the initial impact, the man was hit by several other cars, said Soto. A police officer on his way to work saw something in the road, thought it was a deer and discovered the man's body, said Soto.
It was not immediately known why the man was crossing the road. Soto said the accident was unavoidable.
