The annual Clayton County Humane Society quilt sale fundraiser, held last Saturday at Quilts and Fixins, in Jonesboro, raised $11,300 in a single day for the animal shelter, and leftover quilts are still being sold, said Jeanne Lowery, the owner of the quilting store. The store was busy with quilt enthusiasts packing a classroom at Quilt and Fixins to peruse the items available for sale.
"We had a good sale, but we still have around 70 great quilts and bags left for sale," said Lowery, in an written, e-mail statement. "We will keep these on display, for sale, in our classroom for the next two weeks, and we believe we will meet our goal of $13,000 for the shelter." Quilts and Fixins is located at 7986 North Main St., in Jonesboro. All proceeds from the sale of the quilts and bags will go to the Clayton County Humane Society, to help cover operating expenses. — Curt YeomansMore like this story
