Here is a look at how professional baseball players with ties to the Southern Crescent are doing so far this season:

Major Leagues:

Jason Heyward: Atlanta Braves--The former Henry County standout has spent the last few weeks on the disabled list after hurting his shoulder. The Braves' right fielder is expected to make a couple of rehab starts in the minors before returning to the lineup in the next few weeks. Heyward was a batting just .214. He had 7 homers before getting hurt had played in 45 games. Heyward has started hitting off a tee in an effort to get back in the line up.

Kyle Davies: Kansas City Royals--Has battled injuries this season spent time on the disabled list after going 1-6. In is rehab start at NW Arkansas (AA) he took the loss, but struckout three and walked none in two innings.

Japanese League

Matt Murton: Hanshin Tigers (Central League): The former Eagle's Landing slugger, who also played at Georgia Tech before enjoying stints with Colorado, and Oakland in the majors, is having another banner season in his second year in Japan. Murton is batting .294 with four home runs and 12 RBIs in 44 games. He has the league's eighth highest average in the Central League.

Minor Leagues:

Luke Murton: Tampa (High Class A): The younger brother of Matt Murton, also a former standout at Eagle's Landing and Georgia Tech, is in his second season of pro ball. Murton plays for the New York Yankees' High Class A farm team. He's batting .251. He has four home runs and 25 RBIs.

Isaiah Froneberger Tulsa (Class AA)--A case of turf toe has sidelined the former Forest Park standout most of the season. The 22-year-old pitcher has appeared in just two games. He has three strikeouts and no walks for the Colorado Rockies farm team.

Scott Robinson Modesto (High Class A)-Jason Heyward's former teammate at Henry County, is batting .244 with 13 RBIs through 43 games.
