Chambers, Mary Lou "Nanny"

Age: 82

Mary Lou "Nanny" Chambers, 82, of Stockbridge, passed away on June 12, 2011. She was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who will be sorely missed. In addition to being an avid prayer warrior, Mary Lou was a master of crochet, creating blankets, scarves, hats, and outfits for everyone she knew, especially the little ones. Perhaps surprisingly for someone from her generation, Mary Lou was rather adept with technology, playing video games and texting daily. She was an active member of Charity Baptist Fellowship Church. She is survived by her husband, Milton Chambers; five daughters and their spouses: Sharon and Jimmy Roddy, Kathy and Billy Dixon, Deborah and Darrell Bruce, Mel and Ben McKenzie, and Gale and Eddie Knox; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Ollie Waters; several nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 15, at 11 a.m., in the Fairview Chapel of Horis A. Ward. Sons-in-law Ben McKenzie and Jimmy Roddy officiated. Interment took place in Fairview Memorial Gardens. The family received friends at the funeral home from 4 p.m., to 8:30 p.m., on Tuesday, June 14. Horis A. Ward Fairview Chapel was in charge of arrangements, (770) 474-1231.
