Here is an update on pro baseball players from the Southern Crescent:

Majors

Jason Heyward (Atlanta Braves): The former Henry County High School standout has returned from the disabled list with Atlanta after suffering from a shoulder injury. Heyward bounced back in a big way Thursday in the team's victory against New York . Heyward was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in the team's 10th inning victory against the Mets in a game that ended on a balk by New York. Davies is batting just .219 with 15 RBIs.

Kyle Davies (Kansas City Royals): The former Stockbridge Tiger and Atlanta Braves as been on the disabled list with a rotator cuff injury since May 18, but could be activated in time to make his next start. In a minor league rehab appearance this week, Davies allowed just one run and struckout five in five innings of work at triple AAA Omaha. Before getting hurt, Davies was 1-6 with the Royals, with 29 strikeouts and 17 walks.

Japan Baseball:

Matt Murton (Hanshin Tigers): Although there is a long way to go, so far this season, former Eagle's Landing and Georgia Tech baseball player Matt Murton is closing on a batting title in Japan. Murton, who plays for the Hanshin Tigers in the Central League, has the third highest batting average in the league with a .310 average. Murton, who played for the Chicago Cubs, Oakland d Athletics and Colorado Rockies, has five home runs and 15 RBIs in 48 games.

Minor Leagues:

Luke Murton (Tampa): The younger brother of Matt Murton is in his second year of pro baseball with Tampa, the New York Yankees' high Class A affiliate. Murton, who also played at Eagle's Landing High School and Georgia Tech, is batting .256 with four home runs and 28 RBIs in 59 games.

Isaiah Froneberger (Tulsa): Turf toe has kept the former Forest Park left-handed pitcher sidelined for most of the season. Froneberger has appeared in just two games for Tulsa, the Colorado Rockies Class AA team.

Scott Robinson (Modesto) The former Henry County Warhawk is batting .249 for the Colorado Rockies Class AA squad. Robinson, who played at Henry County with Jason Heyward, has 15 RBIs. He has eight doubles and two triples.
