Mr. Daniel “Dan” Wesley Gardiner, 62, of McDonough, passed away June 23, 2011. Dan was born in Fulton County, the son of the late Kenneth Thompson and Opal Lee Cochran Gardiner. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during Vietnam. Upon returning home, he became a dedicated law enforcement officer for 31 years, retiring as a special agent for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. He attended Eagle’s Landing Baptist Church. Dan was a fun-loving individual, who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling, hunting, motorcycles, and classic cars. Survivors are his wife of 44 years, Ginger Gardiner, of McDonough; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Jason McKinney, of Zebulon; grandchildren, John Daniel Moss, Cody McKinney and Gabrielle Moss; brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Joan Gardiner, of Akron, Ohio, along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday, June 27, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tim Dowdy officiating.
