Paul Hall, age 80, faithful husband, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at his home in Duluth on June 24, 2011, with his loving wife and daughters by his side. His last days were spent peacefully with his large family and many friends. William Paul Hall was born Dec. 5, 1930 in Jackson, to Rufus and Mearl Tyler Hall. He was a graduate of Georgia Military College and Chicago Technical College, and formed his own masonry contracting firm, H&S Masonry Inc., in 1972, which he continued to oversee until his death. He was a founding member and two-term president of the Masonry Association of Georgia, a member of Masonic Lodge number 288 in East Point, and a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church in Norcross. Married for 59 years to Deana Davis Hall of Fairplay, S.C., he was preceded in death by his son, William “Billy” Paul Hall, Jr., in 1983. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Deana; daughters, Krista Lay and Alice VanderVeen; son-in-law, Chip VanderVeen; sister, Bobbie Lois Speir; brother-in-law, William Speir; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews and his Waffle House buddies. The times dearest to Paul’s heart were the many wonderful days he spent with his family on Amelia Island, watching his grandchildren play and grow into young men and women that he was especially proud of. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved his bird dogs and Irish Terriers. He loved his silver-bullet pickup truck. The family welcomed visitors on Sunday, June 26 from 5 to 7 p.m., at Crowell Brothers Funeral Home in Norcross. The funeral service was held on Monday, June 27 at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church in Norcross at 11 a.m. Burial followed at Peachtree Memorial Park, Norcross.
