Griffin, Douglas Clay

Age: 50

Douglas Clay Griffin, 50, of Newnan (formerly of Ellenwood), passed away on Feb. 20, 2011. He was born Sept. 24, 1960, to Frances Eugenia McCarthy Griffin, of Ellenwood, and Albert Clay Griffin, of Ellijay. Doug attended Stockbridge High School. He was a former Marine and a reservist, who loved his children, grandchildren, family and friends. He loved fishing with his grandchildren and wood carving. He lived life to the fullest. One of the best car salesmen ever, a professional Repo man –– one tough guy! Always living on the edge. A brave soul. Those who knew him loved his humor; he should have been a comedian! A very funny guy! He leaves three daughters, Lisa Thomas, Frances LeAnn Edge, and Lauree Waldrop; three sisters, Debbie Griffin Chilton, Sharron Griffin Meszaros, and Robin Griffin Hollums; two brothers, Brad Bolton, of Smyrna, and Clay Griffin, of Newnan; 11 grandchildren, three neices; five nephews; uncles, Bill Griffin, of Smyrna, Raymond Griffin, of Ellijay; aunts, Rose, Mildred, Helen, of Ellijay, Sarah and Geraldine, of Griffin; too many cousins to count; best friends, Mark Bowles, Teri, Kimsey and Jimmy Hollums. He stopped loving her today. To be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord. We love you. You will be missed.
