The Lovejoy Wildcats and Mundy's Mill Tigers are set to meet Wednesday on the baseball field.
They will take winning records into the game after victories on Monday afternoon.
Lovejoy 10, Morrow 0:
The Lovejoy High School baseball team is off to its best start since 2001—the year they went to the Final Four.
Monday afternoon, the Wildcats improved their record to 6-2 overall with a 10-0 victory over Morrow in a game called after six innings.
Despite the score, Lovejoy only led 4-0 heading into the sixth inning. That's when they broke open the contest, scoring six times in the inning.
"It was a really clean game," said Lovejoy coach Craig Chatman. "It was probably the best game we have played all year."
Vance Johnson improved to 2-0 on the year with a solid performance from the mound. He also had three hits.
Theo Hassan finished the game with two RBIs, Brandon Chisolm also drove in two runs and Mark Flournoy added an RBI.
Derell James stole three bases en route to the win.
Mundy's Mill 15, North Clayton 3:
The Mundy's Mill Tigers used a combination of solid pitching and timely hitting to beat North Clayton 15-3 in a game called after five innings the mercy rule.
With the victory, the Tigers improve to 5-0 overall.
Anthony Hammonds picked up the win, improving to 3-0 overall. He finished the game with five strikeouts.
Robert Bell and Matt Wilson were perfect at the plate with 3-for-3 performances. They also knocked in three runs each.
Corey Harmon had two hits, including a home run.
Jonathan Whitted also had two hits.
"We are just trying to get better each time," said Mundy's Mill coach Patrick Smith.
Wednesday's game with the Wildcats is set for 5:30 p.m at Lovejoy.
