Brimer, Jack Thomas

Age: 66

Jack Thomas Brimer Jack Thomas Brimer, born in Roswell, Ga. in 1914, settled in Decatur, Ga., and lastly in Stockbridge, went home to live with his Creator, Tuesday, March 1, at 2:45 a.m. Jack was a WWII Veteran, and served as an Engineer in the Army Reserves as a CW3. After working through North Africa, Italy, France and Okinawa, he came home from the war, and worked full-time for United Family Life Insurance Company, until he retired, then continued working for the state legal department. In both jobs, he ran the printing department, and supervised all of the ordering and use of office supplies. Jack attended Ousley UMC in Lithonia, as an adult, and then Bethel UMC in later years. He got great pleasure from serving God through both of these churches, and made lifelong friends there, and through work. Jack also loved to fish, and fished many times with his brother-in-law Ham McAfee, and friends. He was famous for his giant tomatoes—which provided us with spaghetti sauce all year long—and a beautiful garden! Jack’s best friend stayed with him in marriage for 61.5 years, Juanita “Neda” McAfee Brimer. She graciously cared for him during these last difficult years, after lots of prime living. It is impossible to count the many lives Jack has touched during his quiet time on earth. Jack was preceded in death by his son, Tom Brimer. He is survived by his wife, Neda Brimer, son (Richard) Scott and daughter-in-law Josie (Calara) Brimer, daughter Kellie (Brimer) and son-in-law Dave Frissell; grandchildren Richard “Rich” and wife Athena (Bahamonde) Brimer, Robert Brimer, Cathy (Brimer) and Khoa Bui and great grandchild Bentley Bui; brothers Morris and Pete Brimer, and sisters Eleanor Brimer and Joyce (Brimer) Corley. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 12, at 1p.m. (visitation from 12 p.m., to 1 p.m.) at Bethel UMC, 245 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Ga. Jack’s ashes will be interned later at Westview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Bethel UMC.
