Cathy Lou Barfield Holcombe, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Hospice Atlanta. She died after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer. Cathy was born Oct. 24, 1959, to James and Sue Barfield. She grew up in Hapeville, and graduated from Georgia State University, with a bachelor’s degree in economics. Cathy was a long-term vice president of Sun Trust Bank. She was an elder, for many years, at Stockbridge Presbyterian Church, where she was described as the heart and soul of the church’s education program. Cathy’s passions included her family, her Sunday School class, and helping other cancer patients. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 19, at 11a.m., at Stockbridge Presbyterian Church. Cathy is survived by her husband, Rick Holcombe; son, Matthew Holcombe; daughter, Katie Holcombe; sisters, Patsy Walls, Linda Evans, and Anita Walton.
