Forest Park headed to Class AAAA Title game

DULUTH--The No. 6-ranked Forest Park Lady Panthers (26-5) are headed to the championship game of the Class AAAA basketball Tournament.

Forest Park advanced to the title contest with a 56-47 victory over top-ranked Douglas County Wednesday afternoon at the Gwinnett Arena.

It was the first loss of the year for Douglas County. Forest Park has still not lost to a team from Georgia this season.

The Lady Panthers used a second-half rally to advance to Friday afternoon's championship against the winner of Fayette County-Chattahoochee contest at 7 p.m.

Trailing 19-11 at the end of the first half, the Lady Panthers cut the lead to 31-29 at the end of the third quarter, and took control of the contest in the final period.

Three players scored in double figures for the Lady Panthers. Kayla Potts led the team with 17 points, Ashlee Cole finished with 14 and Keyonna Allen added 11.

Douglas County (30-1) was paced by Kristina Wells with 13 points.

Tip off for the Lady Panthers' championship game will be Friday at 3 p.m.
