Library to hold 'Landlord/Tenant Seminar'

The Headquarters branch of the Clayton County Library System will host a "Landlord/Tenant Seminar" on Thursday, March 10, from 7 p.m., to 8:30 p.m., at the library, at 865 Battle Creek Road, in Jonesboro. A representative of the Metro Fair Housing Authority will lead an information session on legal issues that involve landlords and tenants. Call (770) 473-3850.

Friday

The Headquarters branch of the library system will host a genealogy program on Friday, March 11, from 6:30 p.m., to 8:30 p.m., at the branch, at 865 Battle Creek Road, in Jonesboro. Saturday

The Headquarters Library will also host a "Yu-Gi-Oh" Tournament on Saturday, March 12, from 2 p.m., to 4:45 p.m., at the library, 865 Battle Creek Road, in Jonesboro. "Yu-Gi-Oh" is a trading-card game, in which contestants use cards that represent monsters, magic spells and traps in duels against one another. The tournament is open to anyone over the age of 8. Clayton County Public Schools will host a free "E3 Parental Involvement Conference" on Saturday, March 12, from 8:30 a.m., to 12:30 p.m., at Charles R. Drew High School, 6237 Garden Walk Blvd., in Riverdale. The conference is designed to educate parents on how they can better support their children academically. Call (678) 817-3078.

The Jonesboro Branch of the Clayton County Library System will host a "St. Patrick's Day Stories and Craft" event, on Monday, March 14, from 7 p.m., to 7:45 p.m., at the branch, at 124 Smith Street, in Jonesboro. Call (770) 478-7120.

Tuesday

The Headquarters Library will host a "Luck of the Irish" event on Tuesday, March 15, from 6 p.m., to 7:15 p.m., at the library, 865 Battle Creek Road, in Jonesboro. The Headquarters Library will host an "Imagi-Nature Storytime" on Wednesday, March 16, from 7 p.m., to 7:30 p.m., at the library, 865 Battle Creek Road, in Jonesboro. Children will hear nature-themed stories, sing songs and make a nature-themed craft. Call (770) 473-3850.

The Clayton County Library System has entered a national competition to win more than 1,600 "For Dummies" self-help instructional books. The library system that gets the most people to become fans of their special contest Facebook page May 1 will win the prize, which library system officials estimate is worth more than $20,000. To participate in the contest, log onto www.claytonpl.org, and click on the "CCLS For Dummies" link, in the "upcoming events" sections of the main page. The Clayton County Public Library System offers many services to students, including tutoring programs for those who speak either English, or Spanish, and online practice tests and electronic test-preparation books for the SAT, GED, ASVAB, and TOEFFL exams. The Everett Music School is offering a Music After School Program for local children, at its new location at the Emmanuel Baptist Church Campus, at 230 Ga. Hwy. 138, Bldg. B, in Riverdale. Youths receive homework assistance, Criterion-Reference Competency Test (CRCT) preparation, math and reading enrichment, and lessons in piano, drums, singing and music theory.
