• BOC moving to create strong county manager

Let's look at this from both sides. If this model is used and Wole Ralph is re-elected he will be chairman. This will take away sole power from him. On the other hand if Ralph is not re-elected he'll be appointed if he gets out of his legal troubles. We the citizens of CC must get involved and have better representatives. It starts with breaking up the current threesome. Next we must have quality candidates to run for office. Our vote will be the final step. Can we start with a recall of Singleton? The other two are up for re-election. We must start some where and now is as good of time as any.

• BOC moving to create strong county manager

Givinga hired employee so much power is not a good idea. Why have an election? There is definitely a need for a county manager, with professional expertise, but the ELECTED commissioners should retain power. This is an attempt to water down Chairman Bell's role, even if in his next term. The Commissioners may not be so happy with the monster they create...it may turn out like so many hired Scdhool Superintendents we have had. (as opposed to elected Sups.) These moves have taken away the power of the people to choose, a bedrock of democracy.

• BOC moving to create strong county manager

Here's a thought. How about we elect competent and ethical people to fill the board of commissioners positions then expect them to actually do the job they were elected to perform.

• Fatal plane crash in Hampton

My prayers go out to both families. I didn't know Bryan. But, I did know Oriel; He felt like a son to me, and he we will truely miss him. To the families and National Aerotech, may God be with you all, trust him and He will not lead you astray.

• Butts Co. deputy involved in car crash

Im sorry that it happen & im glad that everyone is ok.But everyone have to understand his daughter had to get home she could not be left at schoolwithout aride.Butts County have brought my daughter home afew times cause she didnt have a ride. And im grateful for that.It could have been anyone so let it GO & lets pray for one another.

• Butts Co. deputy involved in car crash

I heard a alien came down from mars and landed on the vehicles and they never actualy hit each other. Hello butts county get real. Watch the no life having folks of this county will believe the above story. Get over it it happened and it is over just thank god everyone is ok.

• Library to hold ‘Landlord/Tenant Seminar'

Metro Fair Housing Authority, is absolutely no help. I actually attended one of their seminars and it was a waste of time. I also contacted their offices seeking help, they refused to let me speak with a counselor because I did not live in Fulton County. Instead I was referred to Clayton County Legal Aid. Maybe thats who should host the seminars. Im just curious why is Clayton County Legal Aid located in East Point, isnt that Fulton County?

• Hampton Council approves LCI proposal

The Downtown Development Authority could have accomplished this ten years ago, if the city council cronies hadn't gotten into a power stuggle with them. Nobody on the council wants anything accomplished in the city unless they are sure they will get credit for it, no matter if it wasn't their idea and they did none of the work.

• BOC moving to create strong county manager

Chuck Ware hit the nail on the head. I could not agree more. Edmondson's only interests and motive is to keep the residents of Lake Spivey upbeat "Any means Necessary." That includes ignoring the likes of the rest of his district. As far as the other puppets on the board, back hand deals fronted Wade Starr will keep their mouths shut. Chairman Bell said it best "properly quantify duties and responsibilities". On that note address that with the CCPD and those "poorly written arrest warrant affidavits." Unacceptable!

• DA seeking indictment of county finance director

So the finance director destroyed records based on a county ordinance. Why would Clayton County have such an ordinance when a state law already set clear rules of what records should be kept and for how long before destroying? Does Clayton County consider the laws it creates to be above the laws of the state?

• DA seeking indictment of county finance director

Finally!

• BOC moving to create strong county manager

County Manager. I don't see any difference between this and the job of the BOC Chairman. Why mention that we need a "strong" County Manager. Does that imply we currently have leadership that isn't strong? What's so wrong with our county that we need a new position and how much will it cost the county for this new position if approved? Perhaps the state will give it serious consideration after get our $8.5 million dilemma settled.

• Old Towne Morrow takes the cake

I agree with one of the writers above, I'm believe the some higher rank officials benefited from the building of Old Towne Morrow. Mr. Lampl is out of control, and has been for a years. Try to start a business in Morrow and see how fast he get in your face to tell you NO, just because he said so! The man have to much power, and the council allowed it for many years. I was wondering where did all that money come from when they where building The Old Towne Morrow. I thought maybe it was coming from all those outrageous traffic ticket they have people pulled over at almost every traffic light in Morrow. Go to the court house on the day people have to appear in court for a traffic ticket. It's not enough room for everyone to fit in the building.

• Butts Co. deputy involved in car crash

I myself have seen the tahoes coming out of griffin Panda Resturant and followed them all the way back to Jackson. Then just this Sunday seen an officer and family up at the Cracker Barrel in Mcdonough in a county vechile.. I as a taxpayer thinks that it is uncalled for.. I would love to eat at Cracker Barrell or at The Panda.. But I can barely afford to put gas in my vechile. But they can burn all this gas doing unecssary things!!I think the sheriffs dept needs to be under investigation!!

• Butts Co. deputy involved in car crash

I am sick and tired of the police using their so called "power" for things that shouldn't be used for..this would have never happened if 1) he was going the speed limit, 2) he wasn't transporting children home and 3) he was paying attention. two thumbs up for our wonderful police!

• BOC moving to create strong county manager

This is a strange proposal considering the current situation in our county. * We're broke * High unemployment * A ton of foreclosed homes * School system in hack * Gangster style leadership * Crooked officials abound .... and some are going to jail soon All we need is a few GOOD county commissioners then Clayton County won't need a manager. We certainly don't need both a chairman and county manager. From what I see, the jobs are the same. I think maybe Mr. Ware called it right.

• College students helping clean Reynolds Preserve

Boston College volunteers is a ridiculous 3 year venture. Morrow is not a poverty stricken community which requires this type of volunteer service. Those students come here and are treated like royalty, for what? At what cost? The small simple tasks that they do are so minimal and slight. They are a big waste of tax payers money and city employees time. I was visiting the Reynolds, as I have for years, and all I saw Boston College doing was playing games. I was a Reynolds for a very long time, and all they did was play. They are being ushered off to events everyday or night, cooked for and given person city babysitters. I saw all of this with my own eyes. I am a long time Morrow resident. Boston College is not doing any "real community" service. I wish all of you readers could have seen them, what a waste and a shame. I also observed them in the past years. It was the same thing. The City of Morrow should be ashamed of itself. I am so ashamed of the City of Morrow.

• Powell, Marcus Jackson "Jack"

Today he is with our LORD, and that's all good.

• Adamson unsure about longer school day

It is understandable that cuts need to be made to balance the budget. Will adding 2 hours a day really benefit our students and educators? Many of our teachers already spend 8-10 hrs a day at school, with the additional time spent on their own time not getting paid. Then they spend additional time at home in the evenings and on the weekends grading papers and doing lessons plans. Adding more hours will just burn these teachers out. Most children can only learn and retain so much in a 7 hr day. Adding two more hours will not add more knowledge or understanding to them. When will the two hours be added, before or after school? Many of our students are already at the bus stops before dawn and a few get dropped off around 6pm now. Are we providing a safe learning environment having them out in the elements earlier or later? And what about the affect a 4 day week would have on unsupervised children of families who can't afford child care? Increased crime and teenage pregnancy.

• Locals named to governor's education advisory board

What about the education support professionals,(bus drivers, cafeteria workers, custodians, parapros, IT and maintenance workers)? Who will speak up in their behalf and share ideas, concerns and comments on how important their assignments are to education and educating the child as a whole. These are the ones that have a great affect on the lives and choices our students make today. There should be someone from this group at the table with the Governor when decisions are being made in regards to public education.

• Charges filed in death of Locust Grove man

There are to many unanswered questions in this case. Were any drugs or money found at the scene? I know there was only one witness. I am not sure how creditable she is. Matthew Meason has a preliminary hearing on Wed. March 9th. I just want justice to be served. Voluntary manslaughter really? Sounds like Matthew Meason is getting off pretty easy.

• Cash-strapped states rethink Hollywood tax breaks

So where does that leave the "Henry County Movie Studio" near the racetrack that the commissioners spent all that time on. Would be nice to know if any taxpayer money was spent on that deal. I always thought that was someones pipe dream.

• Brimer, Jack Thomas

I'm so sorry to hear about Jack. I haven't heard from anyone there in years. All my neighbors on holly Hill have gone on except Johnny Wyatt and Mary Kraft. I lost my son over 18 months ago. I talk to Katherine Maxwell once in a while. She lost Jim a while ago. I miss all of you from Ousley Methodist church. Sorry again. Fran

• Stockbridge residents oppose Dollar General

Hey,why not put one in front of commissioner Holders home.

• Butts Co. deputy involved in car crash

Not sure exactly what happened im jus glad Chris is ok!!

• ‘Olde Towne Morrow' riddled with problems

In answer about Olde Town Morrow comments. How many of you voted in the local election and attend the Council Meetings??

• Butts Co. deputy involved in car crash

Sounds like the dash cam video needs to be reviewed, for I have seen Butts county patrol cars on many different days running like the wind on hwy 16 headed from Griffin toward Jackson like they were entered in the cannonball run.Is this really proper?

• Butts Co. deputy involved in car crash

Why are we using taxpayer dollars for an officer to drive his family around?

• Butts Co. deputy involved in car crash

I heard roughly the same thing, that the officer was going very fast, hit Whitten when passing the car in front of him. This area is at the top of a hill. Isn't that a no passing area? Should be alot of investigation done

• Butts Co. deputy involved in car crash

I'm interested in knowing if this was a violation in using a government county vehicle for personal use. If so who pays for the damages and hospital bills. Hopefully not the taxpayers.

• Arrest made in slaying at Econo Lodge

The wickedness that kills the innocent has to stop. Rest in Peace young man. God has a special place for you also. A place of perfection and glory.

• Butts Co. deputy involved in car crash

Why did the officer have passenger's in a county vehicle? Our tax dollars are paying to transport his family and friends? As a tax payer I would like to know is this against county policy or this an accepted practice? Did the Sheriff comment on this incident? Did anyone receive a citation? If so what party the county employee or the citizen?

• Lovejoy facility offers chiropractic solutions

I have been adjusted Dr. Adams and he is absolutely fabulous. I broken my neck several years ago and his adjustments on my neck are some of the best I have ever received (and that is after going to many different Chiropractors before. He is tops in my book--wish he was closer to where we lived and I'd be there every week. I'm now about 800 miles away so it obviously is too far.

• Couple suspected in operation of illegal business

What was their slogan? "YOU BRING IT.....WE CHOP IT" :)

• Adamson unsure about longer school day

My tax dollars are paying for your dinners? Bring a sandwich from home!!

• Butts Co. deputy involved in car crash

Why did the county officer have his children in a county car on county time or on his own time? They shouldn't have been in th car and now the countys insurance has to pay for their hospital bill.

• Butts Co. deputy involved in car crash

The officers around here drive at extremely high speeds all the time and I am not surprised this happened, however I am glad nobody was hurt worse. A speed limit includes everyone and that means law enforcement officials as well, in fact they should be the ones who abide the law the most because they are authority figure,of course this never is the case. Hard lesson to learn.

• Adamson unsure about longer school day

Extending school days is in the best interest of the CCBOE not in the best interest of the children. That ridiculous idea will have a ripple effect on family ties. Just because CCBOE can't get their act together doctor offices, daycares, tutoring, extra-curricular activities, tutoring etc. are going to extend their hours due to the incompetence of the board members. I refuse to let the minority inconvenience the majority.

• ELCA's Burton named Henry's top student

Andrea you need to get over it attitude like yours is whats wrong with the public schools even though there are some fine kids there also.

• Wise, BobDean

It is with a heavy heart that I read today that Bobhas passed on. I first met him when I was 15 working at Fashion Pillows across the street from his house. He and I went to a couple of concerts together while we were co-workers there. I partied with him on many occasions, and he always had a smile on his face and a good joke to tell. I still appreciate the fact that he provided a licensed driver for me when I only had a learner's permit. He allowed me to drive around without getting arrested during my youth in Jackson. Rock on Bobby! Save me a seat in the front row of the rock n roll section of Heaven... Robin Horton

• Butts Co. deputy involved in car crash

Now is not the time to point fingers, but a time to give glory to GOD that everyone survived and only had minor injuries. Accidents happen everyday, WHO was involved should not change the definition of the word ACCIDENT....just saying. My prayers go out to everyone and I am glad you are all okay!

• Butts Co. deputy involved in car crash

If the Deputy had not been speeding and was at work instead of taking other children home this would have never happened. I thought our school tax payed for the school buses? County Policy states no one other than county employess will ride in county vehicles, i.e Sheriff's Cars. But this is normal for the Sheriff's Office, whats next: arresting an eviction team for burglary when they were following a court order to evict a deputy or maybe writing bad checks through out the county or being sued local business for not paying bills. Way to go Butts County. We are so proud of our SHERIFF'S OFFICE LOL//...

• Alleged drive-shooter captured quickly

I know Rasheed and this not his character. The Henry county police has been harrasing Rasheed for a long time. Henry County Police Dept. is known to harrass many black children in the McDonough area. Rasheed was shot at the so call victim.

• Arrest made in slaying at Econo Lodge

James Johnson was an amazing person. He was a pleasure to be around and a man of great integrity. It is my greatest wishes that his surviving family and friends know that he is in a better place. I speak for all of HR when saying that he will be missed dearly.

• Butts Co. deputy involved in car crash

See that's the thing.... everyone heard so many stories. my daughter was in the accident. i'm glad everyone is okay including the driver of the honda

• Butts Co. deputy involved in car crash

I've heard this also, and that other witnesses have said the officer was traveling at high speed at a no passing zone. Mr. Whitten is also still in the hospital, and was not released as the article states. Sounds like it needs further investigation

• Deputies: Flovilla club operating illegally

it is sad when a so called man of God tries to destroy another man's way of living. How can you say that they had no license or permits when they were purchased through your office in February. Mayor Norris remember one thing, "GOD DOES NOT LIKE UGLY." just look at Lt. Filbeck. You never know when you dig a grave for someone else you just may be digging it for yourself.
