Hatley Wallace Stanfield Mr. Hatley Wallace Stanfield, 87, of Jonesboro, passed away March 7, 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Preston Stanfield; son, Steven Stanfield; parents, Cecil and Hatley Stanfield, and brother, Franklin Stanfield. He is survived by his son, and family, Michael and Renee Stanfield, their son, Scott; daughter and family, Judy (Stanfield) and Bob Corley, and their sons, Matthew, wife Becky, John and Brian. He served his country during World War II in Company C, First Battalion, 24th Marines, 4th Marine Division. He participated in four amphibious landings, including Roy-Namur, Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima, earning a purple heart on Saipan. He served as Scout master for Troop 136 in Jonesboro, in the early 1960s. He was a former deacon for Jonesboro Presbyterian Church. He also served as president and advisor for the local NARFE (National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association) Chapter. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
