The Forest Park Department of Fire and Emergency Services extinguished 20-foot flames that were above the roof line of a warehouse, in Forest Park, on Thursday morning, at about 5:40 a.m., said a public information officer for the department.

Deputy Chief Matt Jackson said that the fire occurred at Liberty Sales, located at 703 Ruskin Drive. He said about 100-feet in length, of the building, was also affected by the flames.

"It [building] is still in tact," he said. "There was nothing to prohibit them [occupants] from moving back into the building. There will be some repairs, but the structural integrity was not compromised."

Jackson said the cause of the fire is currently being investigated by the Forest Park fire marshals and the Forest Park Police Department.

"There was one person who was treated and released at the scene, for smoke inhalation," he said.

Jackson said the victim of the fire was an adult male who works at the warehouse.

The affected area housed a tractor trailer and several automobiles, although no explosions occurred, said Jackson.

He explained that the tractor trailer was under repair and "[other] vehicles appear to be in storage."

He added that the warehouse also leases out land for tractor-trailer parking.

Deputy Chief Jackson said the Forest Park Department of Fire and Emergency Services received a call about the incident at 5:15 a.m., and arrived at the scene at 5:20 a.m.

Jackson said the department had to request assistance from the City of Morrow Fire Department to extinguish the flames.

"It was just for additional manpower, for the amount of fire we had at the time," he said.
