Less than 24 hours after winning the NCAA Division II Championship with a 69-50 victory over Michigan Tech, the Clayton State women's basketball team return home from St. Joseph Mo to a heroes' welcome.

Mr. William "Gus" Haynie, of Union City, formerly of Clayton County, passed away March 24, 2011. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 26, at 11 a.m., at Jones Memorial First United Methodist Church. He is survived by wife, Doris W. Haynie, of Union City; children, Kathy and Dan Hislip, Barrington, Illinois, Penny and Roger Conner, of College Park, Cindy Leigh Haynie, of College Park, John Lavelle, Wendy and Larry Haynie-Cosby, of Wichita, Kan.; brother, Richard Haynie, of McDonough; grandchildren, Emily Husseini, Z.D. Hislip, Josh and Kelly Conner; Cy Conner, Rhyan and Jesse Haynie-Lavelle, Zeb and Val Haynie-Cosby, Abby Haynie-Cosby, Jake Haynie-Cosby; great-grandchildren, Camilla and Olivia Husseini, Beck Conner, Ozzie and Mav Haynie-Cosby; sisters-in-law, Louise Brown, Mickie Williams and Carol Seaton, Gyp Haynie; brothers-in-law, Harold and Jane Stone, Van and Brenda Williams; nieces and nephews. Welcome home celebration planned for Saturday

The Clayton State Lakers women's basketball team will be welcomed home Saturday afternoon when they receive a police escort back on to the college's campus in Morrow. The Lakers' flight from St. Joseph, Mo. is expected to arrive at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport then return to campus.
