Noteworthy: Finished second in the National League rookie of the year voting to Giants catcher, and fellow Georgia native, Buster Posey. ... Spent part of June and July on the disabled list with a bone bruise in his left thumb.
Kyle Davies

How acquired: Traded by Atlanta to Kansas City for relief pitcher Octavio Dotel, July 31, 2007.

Noteworthy: Goes into the season as Kansas City's No. 3 starter. ... Drafted by the Braves in fourth round of the 2001 draft out of high school. ... Younger brother, Jake, played at Eagle's Landing Christian and is currently playing at Georgia Tech.
Isaiah Froneberger

Noteworthy: Froneberger had committed to Georgia, but instead choose to go straight into Colorado's organization out of high school.

Jordan Akins

Noteworthy: Akins signed a football scholarship with Central Florida, but accepted the Rangers' $350,000 signing bonus and started his pro baseball career.
Nathan Fawbush

How acquired: Drafted in the 21st round of the 2010 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Georgia Perimeter.

Noteworthy: Originally went to Walters State Community College (Tenn.) out of high school. ... Throws in the low 90s, and has an excellent curveball.
Matt Murton

Noteworthy: As a rookie in Japan, Murton broke the single season record for hits, set by Ichiro Suzuki, with 214. ... Drafted out of Georgia Tech in the first round of the 2003 MLB June Amateur Draft.
