The Headquarters Branch of the Clayton County Library System will hold a "Getting Into the Recording Business" workshop on Thursday, March 31, from 7 p.m., to 8:45 p.m., at the library branch, located at 865 Battle Creek Road, in Jonesboro. Saturday

The Lovejoy Branch of the Clayton County Library System will host a "Bilingual Homebuyers Seminar" on Saturday, April 2, from 9 a.m., to 1 p.m., at the branch, which is located at 1721 McDonough Road, in Hampton. The free event will include information about financing options, property inspection and other beneficial ideas for homebuyers. Advance registration is required. Call (770) 472-8129.

The Jonesboro Branch of the Clayton County Library System will host "International Children's Book Day," on Saturday, April 2, from 9 a.m., to 4:45 p.m., at the library branch, at 124 Smith Street, in Jonesboro. The library will have a display of Hans Christian Andersen books, with children allowed to take a book from the display to read. Library staff will take a photograph of anyone who is seen reading one of the books, and the pictures will be posted on the library's Flickr page. Call (770) 478-7120.

The Headquarters Library will also host a "Yu-Gi-Oh" Tournament on Saturday, April 2, from 2 p.m., to 4:30 p.m., at 865 Battle Creek Road, in Jonesboro. "Yu-Gi-Oh" is a trading-card game, in which contestants use cards that represent monsters, magic spells and traps in duels against one another. The tournament is open to anyone over the age of 8. Monday

Clayton County Public Schools offices will be closed for "Spring Break," from Monday, April 4, through Friday, April 8. The offices are scheduled to re-open on Monday, April 11.

The Morrow Branch of the Clayton County Library System will hold a "Morrow Monday Night Movie" event on Monday, April 4, from 6:30 p.m., to 8:30 p.m., at the library branch, at 6225 Maddox Road, in Morrow. The movie scheduled to be shown is "Notorious." Call (404) 366-7749.

The U.S. Air Force recently announced that Airman Marquis A. Delgado, a 2010 graduate of Mundy's Mill High School, has graduated from an eight-week basic military training course at Lackland Air Force Base, in San Antonio, Texas.

The U.S. Army recently announced that Pvt. Niesha I. Portee, a 2008 graduate of Riverdale High School, has graduated from a nine-week basic combat training course at Fort Jackson, in Columbia, S.C. She is the daughter of Jonesboro resident, Naadia Portee.

The U.S. Army Reserve recently announced that Pvt. Brandi M. Gay, a 2008 graduate of Mundy's Mill High School, has graduated from a nine-week basic combat training course at Fort Sill, in Lawton, Okla. She is the daughter of Riverdale resident, Lloyd Gay, and Lithonia resident, Rhonda Walton.

The U.S. Army recently announced that Pfc. Desiree W. Maxey, sister of Rex resident, Contressia Maxey, has graduated from a nine-week basic combat training course at Fort Jackson, in Columbia, S.C.

The Clayton County Library System has entered a national competition to win more than 1,600 "For Dummies" self-help instructional books. The library system that gets the most people to become fans of their special contest Facebook page by May 1 will win the prize, which library system officials estimate is worth more than $20,000. To participate in the contest, log onto www.claytonpl.org, and click on the "CCLS For Dummies" link, in the "upcoming events" sections of the main page. That will take you to the library system's contest Facebook page, where people can click on the "Like" button. Call (770) 473-3850.

The Clayton County Public Library System offers many services to students, including tutoring programs for those who speak either English, or Spanish, and online practice tests and electronic test-preparation books for the SAT, GED, ASVAB, and TOEFFL exams. The Everett Music School is offering a Music After School Program for local children, at its new location at the Emmanuel Baptist Church Campus, at 230 Ga. Hwy. 138, Bldg. B, in Riverdale. Youths receive homework assistance, Criterion-Reference Competency Test (CRCT) preparation, math and reading enrichment, and lessons in piano, drums, singing and music theory.
