Joshua Arnold Dooley, 90, of Forest Park, was called home to Heaven on Thursday, March 31, 2011, from Southwest Christian Care Hospice in Union City. He was born Aug. 27, 1920, in Cumming, Ga., to the late Jesse and Lula Dooley, and was the last of five children, behind brothers, Ford, Fred, Wilbur, and Dillard Dooley, and sister, Bonnie Dooley Dobbs, all deceased. He attended Piedmont College and served in World War II combat operations in the Philippines, with the Army Air Force. In 1946, he married Ola Pauline Keener, of Toccoa, Ga., and soon after, moved to Forest Park, where they recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. He retired from many years of Civil Service employment at Ft. Gillem, and served his community in myriad ways, including participation with Civitans, Senior Olympics, Triad, and the Forest Park Senior Center. After many years of membership and leadership at Forest Park Presbyterian, he joined a group to charter Covenant Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville, and faithfully served there while health allowed. In addition to his parents and siblings, he was predeceased by all five of his children, Gail, Julian, Lynn, Steven and Sidney. Surviving are his wife, Ola Pauline Dooley; brother-in-law, Sam Cobb; sister-in-law, Lois Foster, and many devoted nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 4, at 2 p.m., at the chapel. Dr. Dale Weldon and Rev. James Lambert will officiate. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
