The Luella Lions and the Ola Mustangs are each headed to the Elite 8 in their respective classifications. The best-of-three playoff series begin next week.
Class AAAAA
Luella (23-6) vs Parkview (22-8)
When: Tuesday, May 17 (best-of-three series). Third game on Wednesday, if needed.
Where: Parkview High School
Time: TBA
Diamond fact: Parkview is the No. 1-ranked team in Gasports.com Class AAAAA, Luella is ranked No. 3.
How they got here: Luella rolled past South Cobb in the first round of the Class AAAAA playoffs, scoring 33 runs in two games. The Lions then traveled to Camden County earlier this week, and won in a sweep. It took Parkview three games to advance in the series against rival North Gwinnett. After the two teams split on Wednesday afternoon, Parkview came back with a win on Thursday to clinch the series.
Class AAAA
Ola (22-7) vs Loganville (26-3-1)
When Tuesday, May 17, (best-of-three series). Third game on Wednesday, if needed.
Where: Loganville
Time: First pitch: Game 1(4 p.m.)
Diamond fact: Ola has advanced to the Elite 8 for the first time in school history.
How they got here: Ola played two extra innings games to beat Warner Robins in the first round, and it swept South Effingham Wednesday. Loganville swept Redan and Kell.
