Christians for Change Baptist Church will sponsor the 11th Annual 5K Unity Run/Walk, Saturday, May 14, beginning with warm-ups at 7:30 a.m., at the Riverdale Town Center, 7200 Church St., Riverdale. The event, led by the Young Adults Ministry, starts at 8 a.m. This year's theme is: "Run for a life, give a gift of life, donate to the Red Cross." Registration is $10, and includes a T-shirt for those who pre-register by calling (770) 991-7080.

Restoration of Life Through Jesus Christ Ministries, located at 7341 Tara Blvd., Jonesboro, will be hosting a Family and Friends Day, Saturday, May 14, noon to 3 p.m., for the community of Clayton County. The focus is on safety. The Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services Department, the Clayton County Police Department, Indent-A-kid, and more, are participating in this event. There will be storybook reading, and children may sign up for library cards.

The Green Front Cafe, at 112 Second St., in Stockbridge, will host a community service event Saturday, from 3 p.m., to 6 p.m., in honor of Carrie Mae Hambrick. Musical guests will include The 4 Stars, and The Harris Brothers. The event will be presented by the Stockbridge Civic Association. Call (678) 939-2062.

Jodeco Road United Methodist Church, 1500 Jodeco Road, in Stockbridge, will hold a mission festival Saturday and Sunday, May 14 and 15. On May 14, there will be a kick-off breakfast at 8 a.m. Creative Ministries will be held at 9 a.m., followed at 12 p.m., with lunch from Taylor's Barbecue. Then, the worship service will begin. Creative Ministries will be held May 15, at 1:15 p.m. Also, May 15, is Mission Sunday with an 8:45 a.m., service, followed by a 10 a.m., mission fair, and an 11 a.m., service. Pillowcase dresses will be distributed in Africa by our Missionary family. Help feed the homeless, with Jodeco on the Road. Join the construction team and Habitat for Humanity to build a porch swing. Mount Zion United Methodist Church, at 984 Panola Road, in Ellenwood, will host a homecoming service Sunday, May 14, at 10 a.m. The Rev. Marcus Booker will be guest minister. Singing will be from 10 a.m., to 10:40 a.m., with a worship service at 11 a.m. A covered-dish luncheon will follow. All former members and friends are invited. The church will hold a Fifth Sunday Sing-A-Long, May 29, at 6 p.m., with refreshments to be served afterward. The public is invited. Call (770) 981-0238.

Red Oak United Methodist Church, 3894 Walt Stephens Road, Stockbridge, will present the play, "The Wedding: I Do, I Think," Saturday, May 21, at 7 p.m., featuring the church's children and youths. Everyone is invited.

Perfecting the Saints Church International, 1009 Tara Boulevard, Hampton, is hosting a free community shred day June 11, 11 a.m., to 2 p.m. Bring your stack of papers, letters and sensitive documents and have them professionally shredded by the Shred Doctor. Higher Calling Ministries, at the southwest corner of Tara Boulevard and Flint River Road, at Flint River Village, presents drive-through prayer, Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m., to 8:30 a.m.

Community Bible Church, at 2001 Jodeco Road in Stockbridge, offers Celebrate Recovery every Thursday, starting at 6 p.m. The support group provides a place where people can work toward conquering anxiety, depression, anger, food addiction, chemical dependency, co-dependency, drug addiction, and heartache. The Laymen Ministry of Christians for Change Baptist Church, located at 2110 Bethsaida Road in Riverdale, is announcing the arrival of Cub and Boy Scout troops at CFC. The Cub Scout program is for boys in first-grade through fifth-grade, and the Boy Scout program is for boys between the ages of 11 and 17.
