• McDonough teen arrested in crime spree

First of all, I'm Thomas' mother. Those of you who Don't know me, have no right to judge. I did not have my son arrested for "stealing blankets"... My house was robbed, we called local law enforcement. We at the time, had no clue that it was my son, the newspaper never spoke to me, so therefore they didnt have the right to print the things they did. I have done my best at teaching my children right from wrong, and will continue to do so. There are also, many factors that arent printed here, but those are not anything else I'd like to have aired to the world. I have 2 other children who have been traumatized this newspaper article. I did in fact call the Police on Thomas because he couldnt be controlled and I was honestly not sure if he would hurt hiimself or someone else, so yes, of that I'm guilty, I won't ask forgiveness. Mr. James, TJ speaks highly of you, for you NOT to know me and to speak of me the way you have isnt very fair. i'm sure you've heard things of me, because yes, I know Im being blamed for all things that have gone wrong in my child's life. Parents make mistakes, but ultimately, the children make their own decisions. the "blanket" wasnt stolen from my house, There were many crimes committed in one night, not only to my home. I have dropped the charges from our standpoint, but the other ppl were traumatized and will not be dropping the charges. So please ppl, if you're going to pass judgement on someone make sure you A. Know the person, B. know all the details. What you read is not always the "whole truth"

• Rowland, Thomas Wayne

My Sincere and deepest sympathies go go to the family

• Man robs, shoots cabbie

times are really getting hard people are trying to not lose their homes and family

• Cline ready to market Clayton County

Rebekah Cline; If you like Clayton County so much, maybe you take a few elected officials off of our hands and carry them to your county; We might think about throwing in Walkin Small and Jeff Turner.

• Clayton Schools adjusts employee furlough date

Well, once again, the employees of Clayton County are having to pay the brunt of financial mismanagement. We have taken so many cuts! What I really don't understand, is why in the world did the school board give Dr. Heatley a huge bonus? Here we are in the middle of budget cuts and having positions cut and he gets a bonus cut??? Something is terribly wrong! To me, the sign of a good leader is one that makes sacrifices and lets the employees know what they have done.

ª Rowland, Thomas Wayne

I wish to express my deepest sympathies to the family. Wayne was a wonderful person, and is missed. I enjoyed working with him at the City of Jonesboro and will always call him my friend.

• Deputy's son assaulted at school

I am shocked as I read all of these posts. You are defending a kid that physically assaulted another kid. This is whats wrong with our society, people have to be responsible for their own actions and face the consquences. You can NOT go around and punch people because they make you mad, or kick your chair, or whatever. Did Willie ask a teacher to interven or go to the school resource officer to make a complaint against Ben?? You can not just go around putting your hands on other people. Thats wrong. And you defending him for that is just as bad.

• Man sought in double homicide

I know that he has been in jail since Sunday. My only point was to thank Butts County deputies for their hard work. A person like him is better off being behind bars and never to be let out again.

• Clayton Schools tees up for scholarships

How much money would we save if this callous waste of time event was cancelled? This is symbolic of the blatant disregard Heatley has for local families who are suffering due to lay-offs he approved. I understand we must make sacrifices. But why are the "least of these" (bus drivers, parapros, secretaries, lunch ladies, teachers) the only ones required to sacrifice? Meanwhile, highly paid school administrators head off to the golf course! How

• Rowland, Thomas Wayne

Rowland worked with my mom and stepdad (Marsha and Bob Clafton), But most of all they were really good friends with Rowland and Brenda.. My heart and prayers goes out to your family. Rowland was a good man and a great friend.. I know in my heart Mama, Bob and Rowland are trading stories and picking on each other right now!!! RIP Rowland!

• Lampl: ‘I'd do Olde Towne again'

...Quote:"$12.3 million to build" ....And He has no regrets !!!!.......And Says that He Would DO It AGAIN !!! .....Hopeless and Sad, for the citizens of Morrow .....I wonder what Morrow is saying about Forest Park now ?

• Program provides family with new HVAC unit

Hey John read carefully !!!!!!!! In 1982, the Board of Commissioners of Clayton County created the HACC to act as a conduit of federal, state, and local funding devices. (OUR TAX MONEY) !!!

• Program provides family with new HVAC unit

Its laughable when some people think its not tax money when it comes from the state and from the feds. Where do you think they get money from ? This person must work for an agency or the goverment in some way.

• Program provides family with new HVAC unit

Having just sending in my taxes and reading this story confirms my belief that there are a certain amount of us people working so the goverment can fund these welfare like programs for a minory of the population. After reading all these comments I got very curious with all the people on here saying NO TAXD DOLLARS WERE USED. Well I looked it up also and yes its all grant money from federal and state programs which is funded folks like me that work for a living. So many people thinks the world oes them a living. Get a grip folks and get a job also. The people who work for the agencys try very had to say no tax money which is pure bull.

• BOE asking community to judge it

...Isn't it up the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools ( SACS ) to grade our BOE ?

• McDonough teen arrested in crime spree

This is crazy you people do not even know the full story, I am his sister. My mother is great, my mother bent over backwards for all of her kids. T.J. picked this path for himself. T.J. no else. My father had a say so for this to. I know most peoples fathers arent in their kids lifes but ours is in the picture. He and my mother had to think of Jamie and I. They had to help T.J. because he kept on getting worse. You people act like my parents want T.J. in jail get a life people and stop acting like you know T.J. so well and you know the story because trust me you do not.

• McDonough teen arrested in crime spree

First off you should be ashamed for writing this since my mother is the one who pays for his phone bills, pays for everything he needs in there, and even did this when T.J. was not in jail. My mother taught him well, he picked to take a different route and take a wrong turn. How about you hope off. My mother is quite a mother. how about you hope off? how about the stuff me and my brother have to go through? T.J. put us through this too. I love him I do but T.J. made this hard to live through. How aboout you think about everything else that has to go through this and you know what my dad had some say so in this too thank you very much it was not just my mother. GET A LIFE!!!!! you people tick me off

• McDonough teen arrested in crime spree

If my mother is such a bad mother, then how does she have two kids that are not in jail. I am an AP and honor student, I play "A" softball which is the best of the best, I am V.P. of FFA and I am in AJROTC. Her other son takes honors classes, play baseball, and also in AJROTC. She had our best at heart. She had to think of us who still have lifes to live. My older brother T.J. knows what he did was wrong and he takes blame for it. This is T.J.'s fault no one but his. I love my brother and always will. My mom had more to think of than just getting him away from the house. She had to help him. She had to help her other kids. You do not think this is easy on her? How about you go through this and tell me what you would do when one of your kids puts all your other kids in harms way? Then come back and post on here and then you can prove a point untill then you have no say so in this. You still think this is all my mothers fault? Get a life please.

• Deputy's son assaulted at school

Something really has to be done about these video- taped beatings. I have read in the paper and seen on tv a few of these incidents lately. I sincerely hope something is done before someone ends up dead. I saw a clip recently where teens were video-taping a girl being beaten repeatedly and when she eventually went into seizures they kept videoing. This is outrageous behaviour! Regardless of what someone says or does, unless they physically put their hands on you, you do not have the right to assault another person, but if you do then you need to accept the consequences.

• Rowland, Thomas Wayne

The city of Jonesboro lost the most beloved, efficient, knowledgeable and best trained Chief of Police when Wayne retired in order to be closer to his family. Now we have all lost him, so the bell tolls for us. abw

• McDonough teen arrested in crime spree

In my opinion, most of you don't know this family and you can only hope that maybe one day God will bless you with being able to meet them and learn the FULL story. The mother has been my best friend for more than several years and i have known all her kids since they were in Elem. school. Thomas had the best mom, she has jumped through hoops for him like any mother would for her child. So until you know the entire story you need to keep your comments to yourself and remember the "Golden Rule" Do unto other as you would have them do unto you.

• Clayton Schools accreditation review begins today

After we get accreditation: PLEASE remove Heatly from position!

• BOE asking community to judge it

After having initially taken umbrage at Ms. Adamson's use of the phrase "normal people" to refer to people other than the employees of the district, I have changed my opinion. A "normal" person would not stay in this county and abide the disrespect and incompetence that comes from her, most of the other BOE members, the superintendent and his lackeys. Ms. Adamson is correct. We are not "normal."

• Deputy's son assaulted at school

I have one question to ask you. Are you assoicated with Benjamin in any knid of way. You act like you was there, but you was not, you don't know anything about the situation. Only what you have read and heard. We want to hear what the people that was there have to say, not some random person read an article an give us an opinion.

• Henry Medical Center chooses Piedmont Healthcare

Makes me extremely happy that Piedmont is taking over. My past experiences at Henry Medical led me to choose the ride to Piedmont instead of HM when I had a heart attack. My wife & I both have used Primary Care Physicians at Piedmont for over 15 years. Now maybe I can save $5/gallon gas and have a local doctor for a change. Finally Henry County can have top-flight medical services.

• BOE asking community to judge it

You need to add...CCBOE NEED TO REPLACE SUPERINTENDENT

• Lampl: ‘I'd do Olde Towne again'

I've said it before and I will say it again...Lampl did not "do" Olde Towne himself. The council and the Mayor should be looked into, also. Another thing is the economic downturn - had the economy not went south, this venture could have been a boon to the City of Morrow. Just because the Mayor has a beef with Lampl, he, (the Mayor) should look at himself and the council.

• McDonough teen arrested in crime spree

Love the people who take this article to heart, but yet do not know of what parts are true and what are incorrect. The truth is she did not have him arrested. The police were called about the stolen TV because Thomas told his mother he did not take it. Notice noone says anything about the stolen car and jewelry. Thomas made his own decisions and now he is learning the consequences of those choices. The mother did not have him arrested and still to this day makes sure he is ok and lets him know she is there for him no matter what. And in closing, before judging someone a news article or heresay, try to find out the whole story.

• Gas prices continue climb

When I see the gas prices on the signs I am reminded of that song in the video game, Donkey Kong. How high can they go... How high can they go...

• Police: Jackson burglar created diversion

I guess someone forgot to enlighten the burglar to how quickly a patrol car can go from one side of Jackson to the other. This isn't exactly a huge distance.

• Deputy's son assaulted at school

wow, seriously, this story only says things about what willie did, not the reason things happened, honestly you people who think you know everything, know absolutely NOTHING, i am not defending anyone but i do believe that you guys are wrong for saying things like that he is a bad person, because he is not, he just made a bad desision, and quite frankly you should be more worried about how people are going around doing drugs and having sex, its way worst than this. so all of you people can grow up.

• Who's the boss in Jonesboro? - JOHN TEMPLEMAN

Amen Mr. Templeman. And one more question - what are these Council members doing to bring more businesses back to Jonesboro - raising taxes? Isn't that like cutting your nose off to spite your face? This is NOT Washington DC people?! We do not and MUST not follow their evil and destructive example.

• BOE asking community to judge it

Are they serious ? They are the laughing stock of the state. Spend more time doing your job instead of putting up surveys.

• McDonough votes on commercial water rates

the main reason for the water rate increase is so taxpayers in the county can foot the bill on paying for the new Tussehaw Resevoir and any restructuring that they see fit
