Joseph Tod Benz Joseph Tod Benz, 65, passed away on May 21, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louise Humphries Benz, Joseph Charles Benz and brother, Albert Charles Benz. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Benz and son, Chad Benz. Tod was a graduate of the University of Mississippi, where he received a degree in History and Geography. He also received a masters degree from the University of West Georgia in school counseling. He was retired from the Clayton County School System, where he served as a teacher, school counselor and coach during his 35-year career. Tod was an avid tennis player and coach, winning numerous awards in tournaments and on the ALTA teams he coached and played for. Tod was also a passionate golfer. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 27, from 5 p.m., to 7 p.m., at the Ford-Stewart Funeral Home, located at 2047 Highway 138, in Jonesboro. A memorial service will be held at the Providence Congregational Methodist Church, 4344 High Falls Road in Jackson, Ga. (exit 198) off Interstate 75 on Saturday, May 28, at 2 p.m. The Reverend Mary Jo Willoughby will officiate. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make a memorial contribution to the Providence Congregational Methodist Church, c/o Katherine Bryant 143 Hammond Road, Jackson, Ga. 30233.
