Marilyn Olowe said she wanted to do something safe and fun with her two children, to celebrate Halloween.
“I’m not interested in going door-to-door –– it’s just not safe,” said Olowe, of Jonesboro. So, she decided to bring her daughter, Sade, 6, and son, John, 10, to Halloween Town, at the Smith Street branch of the Clayton County Library System, in Jonesboro. During the Monday night event, Jennifer Pelt, a youth services librarian, read Halloween stories to the children, and after storytime, the kids got their hands sticky with an arts-and-crafts project. To round out the night’s festivities, youngsters were able to rummage through a big Halloween bowl, filled with an assortment of candy. For Sade, grabbing candy by the handful, then stuffing it in her “Trick-or Treat” bag was the best part of the night.
