North Clayton senior fullback Marquis Sconiers scored a pair of second half touchdowns, and its defense held as the Eagles clinched the final playoff spot in Region 4-AAAA with a 14-8 win at Creekside.
Down 8-0 at the half, North Clayton held the Seminoles in the second half as Sconiers provided all the scoring. With the win, North Clayton clinched the No. 4 seed in the region and will travel to Northgate next week for a first round playoff game. It is the fourth straight season that the Eagles (7-3) have made the postseason. We wanted to keep up the tradition that we have started here, said Max Wiltz, who is in his first season as the head coach. We came out flat in the first half, but turned it on after halftime. We looked like a different team. Ola 22, McIntosh 21 (OT) Brian Yancey scored on a two-point conversion run as the Mustangs got their first on-field victory in a Region 3-AAAA contest. C.J. Carr scored for the Mustangs (2-8) to pull the team to 21-20 as coach John Kovzel elected to go for the win instead of the tie. We said all year if we had the opportunity, we would go for it, Kovzel said. Brian had an incredible run as he reserved field. It was a pretty exciting finish. Ola lost its season opener to Henry County, but was awarded the victory when Henry County self-reported to the Georgia High School Association that it had used an ineligible player in the contest.More like this story
