Special Photo: A Premiere Antique, Coin and Currency Buyers event is ongoing, through Saturday, at the Sleep Inn, in McDonough. Local residents are asked to bring their unique coins, jewelry and other items for evaluation.
Southern Crescent residents, who want to know if they are in possession of a rare find, can satisfy their curiosity this week, in Henry County.
A Premiere Antique, Coin and Currency Buyers event will continue through Saturday, in the Conference Center of the Sleep Inn, 145 Ga. Highway 155 South, in McDonough. The Illinois-based collectibles company produces events throughout the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Spain and Germany, said its Vice President of Media, Matthew Enright. We invite members of the community to come down and do their own treasure hunts, he said. Anything that they are serious about old paintings, coins from 1964 and before, war memorabilia, pocket watches, and even some types of vintage jewelry as well we look at just about anything you can imagine. Some people come in thinking they dont have anything of real value, the next thing you know, theyre walking with $100,000 in worth for their item, he said. Monday, a Henry County resident received $7,000 for one silver dollar. Jeff Reynolds, show manager for the antiques group, purchased the Morgan Silver Dollar. What makes it real special is the year and mintmark, said Reynolds. This is one of only 100,000 silver dollars minted in 1893, at the San Francisco Mint, and we purchased it ... Times for the free event are 9 a.m., to 6 p.m., Wednesday through Friday, and 9 a.m., to 4 p.m., Saturday. Enright emphasized that his company acts as middleman between buyers and sellers, and does not actually conduct appraisals for a given item. Were basically evaluating the item, he said. Well provide [patrons] with information about their item, and then well find a collector who is interested in purchasing their item as well. For more information, call Premiere Antiques, Coin and Currency Buyers at (217) 726-7590, or the Sleep Inn at (770) 898-0804.More like this story
