One man was killed after his truck left the roadway on I-75 southbound, and crashed into a tree, Monday.
Henry County firefighters, along with Henry County police officers, responded to the one-car accident at the 211 mile marker, according to Henry Fire Capt. Sabrina Puckett.
The accident victim has been identified by Henry County Police as Thomas Tanner, 63.
The accident happened at approximately 3:25 p.m., according to officials. Police believe the driver may have had some health concerns.
“Units were dispatched to a single-car accident,” said Puckett. “Upon arrival, they observed a full-size, pick-up truck off the road, down an embankment, with the front end against a tree.”
Henry County police arrived on the scene of the accident first, and pulled the patient from the truck, “due to patient not having a pulse and not breathing,” added Puckett.
“Mr. Tanner was pronounced dead at the scene,” said Henry County Police Spokesperson, Sgt. Rene Swanson.
“It appears that Mr. Tanner may have suffered a medical issue prior to the vehicle leaving the roadway,” Swanson said.
An autopsy has been scheduled, Swanson added.
